The public is invited to attend the upcoming public hearings and provide comments on the proposed actions. Sign-up will be available upon arrival. Oral comments at the hearings should be limited to three minutes or less. Written comments may also be submitted during the hearings.

Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC - Marshall Steam Station has applied to the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Air Quality for a permit modification to retire existing coal-fired boilers and replace them with new natural gas-fired turbines at:

Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC - Marshall Steam Station's application was reviewed by the Division of Air Quality, Raleigh Central Office to determine compliance with the requirements of the North Carolina Environment Management Commission air pollution regulations. The results of that review led to the preliminary determination that the project could be approved and the Division of Air Quality permit could be issued, if certain permit conditions are met.
This notice serves as a Notice of Public Hearing and Opportunity for Public Comment for this proposal. The Public hearing will be held at Lake Norman High School on November 19, 2024, at 6:00-9:00 pm (doors open at 5:30 pm) located at 186 Doolie Road in Mooresville.
A copy of all data and the application submitted by Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC - Marshall Steam Station and other material used by the Division of Air Quality in making this preliminary determination are available for public inspection during normal business hours at the following
