The Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency subcommittee of the North Carolina Energy Policy Council met at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.   The meeting was held in Room 1210 of the Green Square Building, located at 217 West Jones St. in Raleigh.

The North Carolina Energy Policy Council met at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, in the William G. Ross Environmental Conference Center on the fourth floor of the Nature Research Center, located at 121 West Jones St. in Raleigh.

Mr. Kevin O’Donnell, president of Nova Energy Consultants, presented on the fundamentals of rate base regulation and how policies affect electric power rates. Afterward, the council heard from a panel of business representatives from across the state to learn how they are affected by energy policies, identify the energy issues most important to their success and address the energy opportunities and challenges they are facing. The panel will include representatives from Schneider-Electric, New Belgium Brewery, Novozymes, Smithfield Foods, VF Corporation, Gerdau Long Steel North America, Pfizer.

Two subcommittees of the Energy Policy Council had a combined meeting prior to the Council meeting. The Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency subcommittee and the Energy Infrastructure and Emergency Energy subcommittee heard about the ratemaking process from Mr. Chris Ayers, Executive Director of the N.C. Utilities Commission Public Staff. The meeting took place in the William G. Ross Environmental Conference Center at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. The North Carolina Energy Policy Council met at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16 2016 at the William Ross Environmental Conference Center, 4th Floor, Nature Research Center, Raleigh, NC.

Kenny Habul, CEO of SunEnergy1, presented to the Energy Policy Council at its March 16 meeting about his experience as a solar developer and the future of the solar industry. Lt. Governor Dan Forest, chair of the council, requested additional information from Mr. Habul as a follow up to his presentation. The letter can be found here.

May 20, 2015

The North Carolina Energy Policy Council met at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 to discuss nuclear and renewable energy.  The EPC approved the first nuclear energy generation recommendation from the Long Range Energy Generation and Renewables committee. The other recommendations (here and here) were returned to the Long Range Energy Generation and Renewables committee for further study in light of issues and recommendations brought up by members of the EPC.
