Stakeholder Group on Oil and Gas Management
The Stakeholder Group for Oil and Gas Management was established to provide feedback to the N.C. Mining and Energy Commission and the N.C. Environmental Management Commission on topics related to oil and gas management.
The Clean Energy and Economic Security Act of 2012 encouraged the commissions and Department of Enviromental Quality to develop the oil and gas rules in an open, collaborative process that included input from diverse organizations. The department followed that guidance by including state and local governments, the energy industry, environmental groups, scientists and landowners in the stakeholder group.
