Coal Ash Excavation Plans

In fulfillment of a requirement of the Governor's Executive Order 62 and the Coal Ash Managment of 2014, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources required Duke Energy to submit plans, initially, to excavate the coal ash from four of its facilities: Riverbend Steam Station, Dan River Steam Station, L.V. Sutton Electric Plant and Asheville Steam Electric Generating Plant. Those plans were submitted to the department on November 13, 2014.

After the plans are approved, Duke Energy will proceed with applying for all required permits for the excavation activities. When all permits have been acquired, Duke Energy will have 60 days to begin the excavation process.
