McCrory administration advocates for responsible development of offshore wind

DEQ recently expressed its support for harnessing offshore wind as a component of Governor McCrory’s all-of-the-above energy strategy. With its abundant wind resources, North Carolina is well-positioned to incorporate offshore wind into its portfolio as a source of clean, reliable and affordable energy.

In comments on the federal government’s offshore wind proposal for waters off the coast of Kitty Hawk, the administration advocated for wind development that protects our environment and coastal economies. DEQ emphasized that any responsible offshore wind development plan must include safeguards for sensitive marine life and habitats, a buffer that protects the view from our beaches, and equitable revenue sharing.

The McCrory administration looks forward to the opportunity to partner with the federal government to produce clean wind energy off North Carolina’s coast.
