The NC Air Awareness team has developed resources for teachers and students to complete from their homes and offices. Most years, the NC Air Awareness staff are busy working directly with students and the public at environmental field days, classroom visits, and public events and Earth Day Celebrations. As these events and invitations to participate evaporated with the COVID-19 crisis, the NC Air Awareness team turned our efforts into creating resources which can be done from home.   NEW – Introduction to Air Quality for Educators

After months of intensive training and completion of projects relevant to their job duties, six DEQ employees – two each from the divisions of Air Quality, Waste Management and Water Resources – have graduated from the Certified Public Manager (CPM) program. They were among the 51 state employees earning the nationally-accredited degree, all of whom were honored in a recent ceremony at the N.C. Museum of History. More than 2,245 mid-level managers have earned the degree since 1981, when the program launched with the goal of bringing greater effectiveness to public sectors across the state.

With three nominations detailing his extraordinary service in 2016, Tim Skelding has been named Division of Air Quality Employee of the Year. Skelding, an environmental specialist with the Raleigh Regional Office, was honored by colleagues during the division’s annual appreciation event Wednesday at the N.C. Museum of History. He has worked at DAQ since 2003.
