Public Comment Period begins: Special Order by Consent for North Carolina Renewable Power – Lumberton, LLC

Event Description




North Carolina Renewable Power – Lumberton, LLC (the Company) operates a cogeneration facility that combusts fuel to produce steam and electricity in Robeson County, North Carolina.  The facility is located at 1866 Hestertown Rd., Lumberton, N.C., 28358.  The Company has agreed to a Special Order by Consent (SOC) with the North Carolina Division of Air Quality (DAQ) for potential violations of their Carbon Monoxide (CO) permit limit.  The terms of the SOC require emissions reporting, stipulated penalties for exceedances and a compliance plan for subsequent action to reduce or control emissions if there are exceedances.

Interested persons are invited to review the proposed SOC, and to submit written comments to the DAQ at the above address, so that the comments are received by July 30, 2016. Any person requesting a public meeting regarding the proposed SOC should submit a written request with a statement supporting the need for such a meeting. The request should be sent to the DAQ at the above address, so that the request is received by July 30, 2016.  The DAQ Director shall take final action for the Commission on Consent Orders within 60 days of the initial public notice.
