Public Hearing on draft permit for Enviva Pellets Sampson facility on July 15

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) will host a public meeting and public hearing on Monday, July 15, on a draft permit for Enviva Pellets Sampson, LLC.  The facility has applied for modifications of the existing Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permit to incorporate air pollution control equipment and an increase in production.

DEQ, EPA and Multistate Trust to Hold Public Meeting about Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp Site in Navassa

State and federal officials together with Multistate Trust representatives will hold a public meeting regarding the Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp – Navassa Superfund site on Tuesday, June 25. Topics will include environmental investigation reports, 2019 work and plans, Environmental Protection Agency’s Record of Decision (ROD) activities, and marketing of the site for sale and reuse.

Public urged to avoid algal blooms in Albemarle Sound area

State officials with the N.C. Division of Water Resources are urging the public to avoid contact with green or blue water in the Albemarle Sound and adjoining waterbodies due to an algal bloom that has lingered in the area since May 14, 2019.

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) today issued the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) wastewater permit for Duke Energy Progress, LLC’s H.F. Lee Energy Complex in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
