Notice of Intent to Issue NPDES Wastewater Permit NC0075515 Boomer Ferguson Elementary School WWTP, and NC0046426 Traphill Elementary School WWTP The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission proposes to issue a NPDES wastewater discharge permit to the person(s) listed below. Written comments regarding the proposed permit will be accepted until 30 days after the publish date of this notice. The Director of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR) may hold a public hearing should there be a significant degree of public interest. Please mail comments and/or information requests to DWR at the above address. Interested persons may visit the DWR at 512 N. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27604 to review the information on file. Additional information on NPDES permits and this notice may be found on our website: https://deq.nc.gov/public-notices-hearings,or by calling (919) 707-3601. The Wilkes County Schools [613 Cherry Street, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659] have applied for renewal of the permit NC0075515 for the Boomer Ferguson Elementary School WWTP in Wilkes County. This permitted facility discharges treated domestic wastewater to an unnamed tributary to Warrior Creek in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. Currently ammonia nitrogen, fecal coliform, and total residual chlorine are water quality limited. This discharge may affect future allocations in this portion of the river basin. The Wilkes County Board of Education [613 Cherry Street, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659] has applied for renewal of permit NC0046426 for its Traphill Elementary School WWTP. This permitted facility discharges treated domestic wastewater to Little Sandy Creek in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. Currently, fecal coliform is water quality limited. This discharge may affect future allocations in this portion of the Basin. (Public Notice will run in the Wilkes Journal Patriot on 7/27/23.)
