The Town of Banner Elk applied to renew NPDES permit for the Banner Elk WWTP [NC0032115], Mill Pond Road, Avery County, discharging treated domestic wastewater to Elk River, Watauga River Basin. Currently Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Fecal Coliform, Ammonia Nitrogen, Total Residual Chlorine (TRC) and pH are water quality limited. This discharge may affect future wasteload allocations in this portion of the Elk River.
