Water Resources Development Grant Program

The purpose of this program is to provide cost-share grants and technical assistance to local governments throughout the state. Applications for grants are accepted for seven purposes: General Navigation, Recreational Navigation, Water Management, Stream Restoration, Land Acquisition and Facility Development for Water-Based Recreation, NRCS Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) stream restoration projects and Feasibility/Engineering Studies. There are two grant cycles per fiscal year; the application deadlines are June 30 and Dec. 31.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Grant Manager Amin Davis for assistance in developing a competitive grant application. We are currently in our fall 2017 grant cycle, which ends Dec. 31, 2017. Our spring 2018 grant cycle will run Jan. 1–June 30, 2018. The former application document has been converted to a spreadsheet format which replaces the former application form. This updated application form is in preparation for the transition to an online application process which we anticipate being ready for use early next year. Please check this website periodically for updates.

In accordance with Session Law 2017-57, the division has developed an updated NRCS-EQIP Guidelines document which incorporates the required legislative changes.

NOTE: The N.C. General Assembly placed a 50% matching limit on Water Resources Development Project Grants during their 2011 session. The limit will remain in place until rescinded by the N.C. General Assembly.
