Duke Energy Progress, LLC [526 S. Church Street, Charlotte, NC 28202] has requested major modification to NPDES permit NC0003433 for its Cape Fear Steam Electric Power Plant, located in Chatham County. A proposed new Outfall location for Outfall 008 is added to the permit. This permitted facility discharges treated ash basin decanting/dewatering and groundwater remediation wastewater to Cape Fear River, a class WS-IV waters in the Cape Fear River Basin. Some of the parameters in the permit are water quality limited. This discharge may affect future allocations in this segment of the Cape Fear River.
