The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality has rescheduled tomorrow’s public hearing on a proposed water quality permit for the Asheville Steam Electric Plant.
The new public hearing date is Feb. 24. The schedule change was made due to the severe winter weather advisory that has been issued for much of the state.
The hearing is being held to receive public comments on a draft stormwater discharge permit for the Buncombe County facility. Wastewater discharges from the facility are covered under a separate water quality permit.
The public hearing will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College’s Ferguson Auditorium, 340 Victoria Road, Asheville. Speaker registration will begin at 5 p.m.
