The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources (DEMLR) has issued a mining permit for the Parker Mine operation, covering 83.6 acres in Stanly County.
The N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission Commercial Resource Fund Committee and the Funding Committee for the N.C. Commercial Fishing Resource Fund will meet jointly by web conference on Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.

A public hearing for two marine fisheries proposed rules that was scheduled for last night did not occur due to a technical problem. The hearing will be rescheduled and announced at a later date.

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Coastal Management (DCM) Coastal Reserve will temporarily close the Currituck Banks Reserve parking lot, boardwalk and trail for repairs on Oct. 31. The closure is expected to last through the end of the year and is necessary to maintain the safety of boardwalk and trail users.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will hold a community information meeting on Tuesday, November 29, at the Community Center in Riegelwood Community Park.
