An advisory and an alert were issued against swimming today at two sound-side sites in Beaufort County.  State recreational water quality officials found bacteria levels in the water that exceed the state’s and Environmental Protection Agency’s recreational water quality standards.

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality Division of Water Resources (DWR) issued to B&L Farms a notice of violation and intent to enforce related to a June 12 animal waste lagoon breach.

RALEIGH – The N.C. RALEIGH – The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking public comment on a draft discharge permit for a water treatment system at the Chemours Fayetteville Works site to remove PFAS contamination. Chemours is required under the terms of paragraph 12(e) of the Consent Order to reduce by at least 99% PFAS in the groundwater flowing from the site through Old Outfall 002 into the Cape Fear River and downstream intakes.
