Carteret County | Straits Water Access, This project will create new parking opportunities at the old Harkers Island Bridge Site by constructing 33 paved parking spaces with 2 handicap accessible spaces. Carteret County | West Beaufort Water Access, Improvements including walkways connecting the existing amenities to the Town of Beaufort's sidewalk system, improvements to the kayak launch area, and additional parking for the boat ramp. | $300,000 |
Dare County | Old Lighthouse Beach, Buxton NC, Construction of new restroom and shower facilities. The prefabricated, concrete restroom facility will be built to be vandal resistant and designed to withstand flooding, wind, and rain. The shower facilities will be constructed by National Park Service staff. | $114,010 |
Elizabeth City | Casueway Park Restoration, Replacement of dilapidated pilings and boardwalk along the park's current spans; add a kayak launch and connecting boardwalk segment; replace the current observation decks and fishing pier; and install a concrete pad sufficient to provide two handicapped-accessible parking spaces. | $378,000 |
Indian Beach | Ocean Club Neighborhood Boardwalk Replacement, Full site improvement/replacement, the entire length of the boardwalk would be replaced and reconstructed to current guidelines and regulations. The boardwalk is 635 ft long and 5ft wide, the new plans for the boardwalk include the reconstruction of the original walkway and a 10ft X 10ft observation deck overlooking the beach. | $179,863 |
Kill Devil Hills | Hayman Blvd Beach Access, Construction of a dune crossover on the oceanfront. The walkway will be elevated to traverse the growing dune system at this site. Hayman Boulevard currently has a improved parking, rinse showers and temporary restroom facilities on the west side on NC12. | $77,928 |
Manteo | Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse Pier & Deck Replacement, Replacement of the decking on the pier leading to and surrounding the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse replica located in Shallowbag Bay. The pier and lighthouse are located along the Town owned waterfront and offers great access to Shallowbag Bay. The 261 foot pier has a 3” thick by 6” wide timber cut into 10’ lengths for it’s deck. The replacement pier deck will consist of the same specificatons. The decking around the lighthouse is currently 5/4” thick by 6” wide and will be replaced with 2” thick by 6” wide timber to provide beter longevity. | $95,738 |
Morehead City | 10th Street Site Improvement and Sustainability, The proposed project has two major components: (i) Removal and reconstruction of the western dock to include and improve ADA accessibility, stabilization, and site protection features, and; (ii) Installation of nature-based resiliency feature, a Living Shoreline, to further reduce and disable wave energy to the northern shoreline and site structures | $205,084 |
Nags Head | June Street Public Beach Access Improvements, Construction of an approximately 6' wide, 1,650 sf. ADA accessible wooden dune walkover, a sixteen-foot octagonal gazebo and an upgraded shower-station and lamp post. The current site contains elements that will remain including 12 permeable parking spots, two ADA-accessible parking spaces, a trash can, bike rack, custom bench, dog bag station, porta-john, lamp post and a dedication post to Todd Krafft with a red mailbox. | $207,669 |

The Public Beach and Coastal Waterfront Access grant encourages applicants to leverage grant funds by allowing other state and federal funding sources to be used by local governments as a cash match, provided that the funds are not already being used to match grants by other state or federal agencies.
