Environmental Guidance in Impacted Areas
The public is advised to be cautious due to environmental hazards in western North Carolina due to Helene, including risks from drinking water and flood waters. DEQ Hurricane Helene Emergency Funding
DEQ can provide emergency loans to local governments and nonprofit water/wastewater providers that have sustained significant damage to their drinking water and wastewater systems due to Hurricane Helene, creating a public health hazard.
