Inactive Hazardous Sites Site Notification Requirements
The Inactive Hazardous Sites Response Act requires that within 90 days of the date on which any owner, operator or responsible party knows or should know of the existence of an inactive hazardous substance or waste disposal site, the owner, operator or responsible party submit to the Inactive Hazardous Sites Branch all site data that is known or readily available to the owner, operator or responsible party.
In addition, North Carolina regulations under 15A NCAC 2L require immediate Branch notification of the discovery of a non-permitted activity that has resulted in groundwater contamination.
The IHSB has developed a Site Notification form to assist these parties in complying with the site notification requirement.
