NC DOT has requested an emergency CAMA permit be issued pursuant to G.S. 113A-118(f) to address Prices Creek/SR 1528/East Moore Street in Southport in Brunswick County. This portion of culvert was damaged beyond repair and the roadway was washed out as a result of the PTC 8 storm on September 15-16, 2024. NC DOT is proposing to replace the damaged culvert with a single span bridge.

Andrew McMains: Researching the impact of dredging on fish movement around the Rachel Carson Reserve
From an eager biomedical engineering student at UNC-Chapel Hill who switched his studies to environmental science at the University of Montana - Western, Andrew McMains tells us how he found his passion and path to pursuing his PhD in fisheries science. With the NC Sea Grant and NC Coastal Reserve Coastal Research Fellowship, he’s researching the impacts of dredging on fish movement around the Rachel Carson Reserve using novel sampling methods.
The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) today released the 2024 Sea Level Rise Science Update. This report has been written by the members of the CRC’s Science Panel as a public service in response to a charge from the CRC in 2022 to conduct an annual review of any new and significant scientific literature and studies that address the range of implications of sea level rise at the State, sub-regional and local scale.
