Pursuant to N.C.G.S. §143-215.104L, on behalf of Baekim LLC, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s (NCDEQ’s) private contractor has prepared a Notice of Intent to Remediate a Dry-Cleaning Solvent Facility or Abandoned Site (NOI).

This posting is to notify the public of a request by General Electric Company to modify its Hazardous Waste Management Permit for post-closure care (Permit No. NCD 003 237 948-R3), issued by NCDEQ, Division of Waste Management on February 4, 2021. for its former Hickory Manufacturing facility located at 1223 Fairgrove Church Road in Conover (Catawba County). The requested Class II permit modification will allow GE to add three additional recovery wells to the existing Remedial Action System (RAS) network.

RALEIGH – Following a comprehensive application review and public comment period, the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Waste Management (DWM) has issued a permit to allow Duke Energy to construct and operate a new, lined, onsite landfill at the Mayo Steam Electric Plant for the disposal of excavated coal ash.

RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s (DEQ) Division of Waste Management will host an online public information meeting on October 4 to discuss the redevelopment plans of the Davidson Depot property (former Carolina Asbestos Corporation site), located at 301 Depot Street in Davidson.

RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Waste Management (DWM) will host a virtual public hearing on Tuesday, October 26, on a draft solid waste permit for the second of three new, lined landfills at the Allen Steam Station in Gaston County. The draft permit will include Duke Energy’s construction and operation of the second landfill (called the South Starter Landfill) for the disposal of excavated coal ash at the Allen Steam Station. Members of the public are invited to attend the public hearing online or by phone and provide their comments on the proposed permit. Comments will be accepted until November 12.
