The Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership (APNEP) Science & Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) provides scientific and technical guidance to the Partnership on measures to restore and protect the natural resources of the Albemarle-Pamlico region. The STAC hosts meetings every four to six months to discuss a variety of topics pertinent to APNEP activities. Recent topics include, but are not limited to ecosystem-based management, ecosystem modeling, and understanding community need and hazards.
According to the N.C. Drought Management Advisory Council’s (DMAC) latest classifications issued Thursday, 72 counties in the state are in severe drought, 24 counties are in moderate drought and one county is abnormally dry. Parts of three counties are in extreme drought: Cabarrus, Stanly and Union counties.
