NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO ISSUE A CONSENT ORDER

Public notice of intent to issue a State Consent Order to the following:

Town of Waynesville (PO Box 100, Waynesville, NC 28786) has requested Special Order by Consent No. S24-004 for the Town of Waynesville WWTP, a 6,000,000 GPD wastewater treatment facility under the authority of discharge permit NC0025321. The Waynesville WWTP facility discharges treated wastewater to the Pigeon River

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality's Division of Water Resources (DWR) reminds the public to avoid contact with discolored water that could indicate the presence of an algal bloom. 

The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission (EMC) will hold a public hearing on Nov. 5 to hear public comment on a proposed rule change that would allow domestic wastewater discharges to zero-flow streams.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Resources (DWR) will hold a public hearing on Sept. 25 in order to hear public comment on a proposed amendment to rules that define the scope of parameters that can be certified by the DWR Wastewater/Groundwater Laboratory Certification Branch (WW/GW LCB).
