The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) celebrated the best student projects from the 2023 -2024 AQ-IQ Contest on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer.
The annual AQ-IQ Contest ask seventh grade students to make a project that investigates an air quality challenge and looks for solution to the challenges. The best projects are tools which educate others and inspire a cleaner air future. The projects can be artistic, electronic, posters or videos.
Winning students’ projects were recognized at the annual Recognition Ceremony, which this year was the first in-person ceremony since 2019. DAQ returned to the Transportation Museum for the event, which offers an opportunity to learn about transportation (currently the largest source of air pollution in the state). The museum is also is in the center of the state. Students came as far away as Asheville, Raleigh, and Topsail Island.
