The facility discharges treated industrial wastewater and stormwater to an unnamed tributary to Morgan Creek in the Cape Fear River Basin. Some of the parameters are water quality limited. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Coastal Management and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore will host an interagency work group meeting on Oct. 12 by web conference to discuss government authorities for managing threatened oceanfront structures. The public may listen by computer or phone. The originally scheduled meeting was postponed due to a State of Emergency issued by Governor Roy Cooper in preparation for Hurricane Idalia.
