During the fall meeting of the Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) this week, members elected Secretary Elizabeth S. Biser of North Carolina's Department of Environmental Quality to serve as president. 

The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission (EMC) will meet Wednesday, Sept. 13, and Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at the Wayne West Building at Carteret Community College, 3505 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC. The public may attend in person or via remote access. Room information and remote access links will be posted on the EMC webpage.

Written comments regarding the proposed permit will be accepted until 30 days after the publish date of this notice. The Director of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR) may hold a public hearing should there be a significant degree of public interest. This permitted facility discharges treated municipal and industrial wastewater to the Cane River, a class C;Trout water in the French Broad River Basin. Currently ammonia, fecal coliform, pH, total residual chlorine and total silver are water quality limited. This discharge may affect future allocations in this segment of the Cane River. The following parameters are water-quality limited: BTEX, Naphthalene, Acetone, Tetrachloroethylene (PCE), Trichloroethylene (TCE), Trichlorofluoromethane, 1,2,4 trimethylbenzene, 1,2,3 trichloropropane, 1,2-Cis-Dichloroethene (DCE), 1-Methylnaphalene, 2-Methylnaphalene, and Total Suspended Solids (TSS).
