The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will hold multiple public hearings and a 90-day comment period on six draft Animal Feeding Operations general permits. These general permits are for eligible non-discharge swine, cattle and poultry facilities with liquid waste management systems and animal feeding operations with farm digester systems. Public input received at the events and through Nov. 3, 2023, will be considered in the development of the general permits which will become effective in Fall 2024.
The N.C. Sedimentation Control Commission will meet in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building, located at 512 N. Salisbury Street in Raleigh, on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m., and the public may join in person, by webinar or by phone.

The North Carolina Mining Commission’s Committee on Rules Readoption will meet virtually on July 17, 2023, beginning at 2 p.m., to continue discussion regarding readoption of Mining Program rules last adopted in 2010. The public is invited to attend by computer or phone.
The North Carolina Environmental Management Commission (EMC) will meet Wednesday, July 12, and Thursday, July 13, 2023, in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building at 512 N. Salisbury St, Raleigh. The public may attend in person or via remote access.
The N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission will host an in-person workshop for its five advisory committees on July 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the N.C. Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.
