The NC DEQ Division of Water Infrastructure will administer approximately $82 million for stormwater projects through its competitive funding process from the newly-created Local Assistance for Stormwater Infrastructure Investments fund. Funds are available for cities and counties and their regional councils of government and nonprofit entity partners for projects that will improve or create infrastructure for controlling stormwater quantity and quality.
The Division has posted the proposed plan on the DWI website: https://deq.nc.gov/media/29093/download?attachment . This document describes how the funds will be administered, eligibility requirements, and draft priority rating systems for both stormwater construction projects and stormwater planning projects. The Division is seeking public comment on the document until June 3, 2022. For public comment information: https://deq.nc.gov/news/press-releases/2022/05/04/state-seeks-public-comment-proposed-plan-administer-american-rescue-plan-acts-funding-stormwater.
It is anticipated that applications for these funds will be accepted on Sept. 30, 2022 and awards will be made by the State Water Infrastructure Authority in early 2023.
Tony Evans and Francine Durso will highlight key areas of the administration plan and draft priority rating systems.
The presentation is expected to last approximately 30 minutes and will be followed by a Question-and- Answer session.
