NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO ISSUE AN AMENDED CONSENT ORDER
This is a Public Notice of intent to issue an amended State Consent Order to the following:
Fletcher Academy (185 Fletcher Academy Drive, Fletcher, NC 28732) has requested Special Order by Consent S17-006, Amendment I for its wastewater treatment facility under the authority of discharge permit NC0036641. The Fletcher Academy WWTP discharges treated domestic wastewater to Byers Creek in the French Broad River Basin.
The Environmental Management Commission proposes to issue the Order per Article 21 of Chapter 143, N.C. General Statutes, and other regulations effective March 1, 2021.
Compliance with this Order requires elimination of the wastewater discharge at Fletcher Academy via connection to an existing collection system. Funding has been secured by Fletcher Academy for the necessary construction activities. Fletcher Academy shall comply with the NPDES permit limits with the exception of the interim limitations identified in the Order. This Order will expire on May 31, 2021.
A copy of the Order is available upon request by contacting Charles Weaver of the Division of Water Resources at charles.weaver@ncdenr.gov. Comments on the proposed Order received no later than February 19, 2021 will be considered in the final determination. A public meeting may be held if there is a significant degree of public interest.
