NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO ISSUE A CONSENT ORDER
Public notice of intent to issue a State Consent Order to the following:
The Town of Mt. Olive has requested Special Order by Consent EMC SOC WQ S20-002 for operation of an existing wastewater treatment works in the Cape Fear River Basin under the authority of Permit NC0020575. This SOC will allow the discharge of 2.4 mgd with the pollutant loading at 1 mgd, with the only relaxed limit being for Flow of 2.4 mgd. All other parameters of the permit will remain the same, except have been converted to pounds/day. The Town paid the upfront penalty of $13,000, and is prepared to start construction March 2021.
The Environmental Management Commission proposes to issue the Order per Article 21 of Chapter 143, N.C. General Statutes, and other regulations.

Comments on the proposed Order received no later than 30 days from the date of publication will be considered in the final determination. A public meeting may be held if there is a significant degree of public interest.
