N.C. DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY INTENT TO ISSUE NPDES WASTEWATER DISCHARGE PERMIT #NC0003417

Public comment or objection to the draft modification is invited. All comments received by September 13, 2021 will be considered in the final determination regarding permit issuance and permit provisions.

PERMIT APPLICATION

Duke Energy Progress, LLC, 526 South Church St., Charlotte, N.C., has applied for a Major Modification of its NPDES wastewater permit (NC0003417) for H.F. Lee Energy Complex, 1199 Black Jack Church Rd., Goldsboro, Wayne County. The facility discharges industrial wastewater, landfill leachate, groundwater, and stormwater to Neuse River in the Neuse River basin. Some parameters are water quality limited. This discharge may affect future allocations in this portion of the Neuse River basin. The location of Outfall 006 is: Latitude: 35o22’55"; Longitude: 78o06’31". The location of Outfall 007 is: Latitude: 35o22’47"; Longitude: 78o06’07". The location of Outfall 008 is: Latitude: 35o22’32"; Longitude: 78o06’24". The location of Outfall 009 is: Latitude: 35o22’25"; Longitude: 78o06’15". Printed copies of the draft modification and related documents may be reviewed at the department’s Washington Regional Office.
