SPECIAL ORDER BY CONSENT FOR

MOUNTAIRE FARMS INC LUMBER BRIDGE

LUMBER BRIDGE, ROBESON COUNTY

Mountaire Farms Inc. Lumber Bridge (the Company) operates a processing and freezing facility in Robeson County, N.C. The facility is located at 17269 NC Hwy. 71 North, Lumber Bridge, N.C. 28357. The Company has agreed to a Special Order by Consent (SOC) with the North Carolina Division of Air Quality (DAQ) in the event that construction of a pollution control device exceeds the regulatory timeline. The terms of the SOC require construction of a pollution control device, submittal of a permit application, reporting requirements, and payment of stipulated penalties for failure to comply with the SOC. The SOC expires the later of November 30, 2019 or the date of pollution control device operation.

Interested persons are invited to review the proposed SOC, and to submit written comments to the DAQ at the above address, so that the comments are received by April 14, 2018. Any person requesting a public hearing regarding the proposed SOC should submit a written request with a statement supporting the need for such a hearing. The request should be sent to the DAQ at the above address, so that the request is received by April 14, 2018. The DAQ Director shall take final action for the Commission on Consent Orders within 60 days of the initial public notice.
