WHAT: Public meeting on the draft proposed coal ash risk classification for Dan River Steam Station

WHEN: 6 p.m. March. 1

WHERE: Eden Town Hall, 308 East Stadium Drive Eden, North Carolina 27288

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public meeting Tuesday to receive public comments on the draft proposed coal ash risk classification for the Dan River Steam Station. 

In accordance with the coal ash law, the facility has received a high-risk classification which is not subject to change.  

The draft proposed coal ash risk classifications and related documents are available online at: http://deq.nc.gov/news/hot-topics/coal-ash-nc/draft-classifications

Printed copies of the draft proposed coal ash risk classification document may be reviewed at the Eden Public Library located at 598 S Pierce St, Eden, NC 27288.

Public comments on the draft permit modification should be mailed to: N.C. Division of Water Resources, Groundwater Protection Section, N.C. Department of Environmental Quality, Attn: Debra Watts, 1636 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1611

The public comment period for the Dan River Steam Station risk classification ends April 18.
