State to host public hearings on Atlantic Coast Pipeline project

Division of Water Resources will host two public hearings to obtain community feedback on the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, LLC&rsquo;s application for a state water quality certification and buffer authorization as required by the federal Clean Water Act and state riparian buffer rules.</p>

Officials with the N.C. Division of Water Resources will host two public hearings to obtain community feedback on the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, LLC’s application for a state water quality certification and buffer authorization as required by the federal Clean Water Act and state riparian buffer rules.

Atlantic Coast Pipeline, LLC, is proposing to construct one compressor station and install about 186 miles of 36-inch transmission pipeline in Northampton, Halifax, Nash, Wilson, Johnston, Sampson, Cumberland and Robeson counties.

The first public hearing is scheduled for July 18 in Cumberland Hall Auditorium at Fayetteville Technical Community College, 2201 Hull Road, Fayetteville. The second public hearing is planned for July 20 in Brown Auditorium at Nash Community College, 522 North Old Carriage Road, Rocky Mount. Speaker registration and sign-in for both public hearings will start at 5 p.m. The hearings will start at 6 p.m.

The application and supporting documents may also be reviewed at the Division of Water Resources’ Central Office located in the Archdale Building, 512 North Salisbury St., Raleigh, N.C. 27604. The public is invited to comment on the application by speaking at one of the hearings, submitting written comments at one of the hearings or by mailing comments to the division. Please send written comments to: 401 Permitting, 1617 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C., 27699-1617. Written comments may also be submitted by email to PublicComments@ncdenr.gov. Please be sure to include “ACP” in the email’s subject line. The public comment period ends at 5 p.m. Aug. 19.
