State coastal commission meeting for Sept. 27-28 canceled

The North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission scheduled for Sept. 27-28 at the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Drive, in Wilmington, has been canceled due to potential impacts on the Outer Banks from Hurricane Maria.

Items on the agenda will be moved to the meeting on Nov. 7-8, which will be held at the Hilton Double Tree, 2717 West Fort Macon Road, in Atlantic Beach. Some of the agenda items that will be moved to the November meeting include providing new commissioners with an overview of the state’s coastal program and considering amendments to rules on erosion control.

The state Coastal Resources Commission establishes policies for the state’s coastal management program and adopts rules regarding coastal development in North Carolina.
