State seeks public comments, sets hearing for air permit on Atlantic Coast Pipeline project

<p>The North Carolina Division of Air Quality today opens a public comment period for a minor source air quality permit for the proposed Northampton Compressor Station, which would serve the Atlantic Coast Pipeline project.</p>

The North Carolina Division of Air Quality today opens a public comment period for a minor source air quality permit for the proposed Northampton Compressor Station, which would serve the Atlantic Coast Pipeline project.

If the permit were approved, it would regulate operation of air emissions sources and air cleaning devices. The station is proposed to be at 718 Forest Road, Pleasant Hill in Northampton County.

 

All public comments received by Nov. 20 will be considered in the final determination regarding permit issuance and permit conditions. The draft permit, application and related documents are available online at: https://deq.nc.gov/about/divisions/energy-mineral-land-resources/acp.

 

Printed copies of these documents may be reviewed at the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Raleigh Regional Office. To obtain additional information or make an appointment to review documents at the Raleigh Regional Office, please contact Charles McEachern at 919-791-4200.

 

Public comments on the draft permit should be mailed to: Division of Air Quality, Attn: Charles McEachern, 3800 Barrett Dr., Raleigh, N.C., 27609. Public comments may also be submitted by email to: publiccomments@ncdenr.gov. Please be sure to include “ACP/DAQ” in the email’s subject line.

 

Additionally, DEQ will hold a public hearing on the draft permit at 6 p.m. Nov. 15 at Garysburg Town Hall, 504 Old Highway Road, Garysburg, N.C. 27831. Registration for those who wish to speak will begin at 5 p.m.
