MEDIA ADVISORY: DEQ to address questions on Nov. 21 Chemours proposed consent order

RALEIGH – North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)’s Assistant Secretary for Environment Sheila Holman will answer questions about the proposed consent order between DEQ, Chemours and Cape Fear River Watch on a media conference call.

The proposed consent order, released last week for public comment, addresses per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination originating from Chemours’ Fayetteville Works facility. It requires Chemours to dramatically reduce GenX air emissions, provide permanent replacement drinking water supplies and pay a civil penalty to DEQ.
