The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality invites the public to comment on the first draft of the state’s draft swine waste management system general permit (AWG100000). Comments will be accepted on this version of the permit until December 21, 2018, which will inform the next draft of the permit.

Nearly all North Carolina hog farms are required to comply with the terms and conditions of the general permit, which is renewed every five years. Feedback obtained will be considered along with input from a recent stakeholder meeting to assist environmental regulators in preparing a final draft permit. The next draft of the permit will be posted online for stakeholder and public review early in 2019.
