The N.C. Division of Water Resources will host a Jan. 24 public hearing to obtain community feedback on a draft wastewater discharge permit for the Siler City Wastewater Treatment Plant in Chatham County. The facility discharges treated industrial and domestic wastewater to Loves Creek, a nutrient-impaired waterway in the Cape Fear River basin.
The public hearing on the draft permit is planned for 6 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Siler City Town Hall Courtroom, 311 N. 2nd Avenue, Siler City, N.C. Speaker registration will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The draft wastewater permit and related documents are available for review online at: https://bit.ly/2QZUGPI. Printed copies of the documents may also be reviewed at the division’s Raleigh Regional Office. To make an appointment to review the documents, please call 919-791-4200.
Public comments on the draft permit may be also submitted by mail to: DWR Wastewater Permitting, Attn: Mike Templeton, 1617 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C. 27699-1617. Public comments may be submitted by email to: publiccomments@ncdenr.gov. Please be sure to include “Siler City Permit” in the email’s subject line. The public comment on the draft permit began Oct. 25, 2018 and runs through Jan. 24, 2019.
