The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission will meet April 17-18 at the Dare County Government Complex, 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive, Manteo.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. April 17 and 9 a.m. April 18 and is open to the public. A public comment period is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. April 17. At the chairman’s discretion, comments may be limited to three minutes per person.
Agenda items include:
- Variances – The commission will hear two requests for variances from its rules, one regarding the oceanfront setback in North Topsail Beach and one from N.C. Ports regarding dredging in a primary nursery area.
- Rule adoptions – The commission will consider adoption of amendments to two rules, one regarding civil penalties and the other regarding the construction of marsh sills for wetland enhancement in estuarine and public trust waters.
- Rule development – The commission will discuss modifying specific rules to allow the Division of Coastal Management to move forward with an E-permitting initiative, where by the public may apply, track, and manage applications online.
- Legal updates
- Coastal Resilience Initiatives – The commission will discuss several state resilience initiatives.

The Coastal Resources Commission establishes policies for the state’s coastal management program and adopts rules regarding coastal development in North Carolina.
