The N.C. Environmental Management Commission (EMC) will meet March 4 and 5 at the Archdale Building, 512 N. Salisbury Street in Raleigh. Committees will meet Wednesday, March 4, with the full commission meeting Thursday, March 5. All of the meetings will be held in the Ground Floor Hearing Room.
Topics to be discussed include requests to approve a hearing officer’s report, a regulatory impact analysis and rule revisions related to underground storage tanks, as well as requests to adopt rule revisions for NPDES wastewater permits, special orders by consent, and water quality standards and classifications. Other items include a request for approval of the revised nutrient offset rule after addressing an objection by the Rules Review Commission. The Environmental Management Commission is responsible for adopting rules for the protection, preservation and enhancement of the state’s air, land and water resources. The commission oversees and adopts rules for several divisions of the Department of Environmental Quality, including the divisions of Air Quality; Energy, Mineral and Land Resources; Waste Management and Water Resources.
