The Division of Air Quality is further extending the public comment period until April 27 on the draft air permit for the proposed Active Energy Renewable Power facility in Lumberton.
DAQ is balancing regulatory requirements under the statutes and rules with public health concerns and public interest. The scheduled public meeting was cancelled based on state guidance to protect public health and limit gatherings during the COVID-19 crisis. Given the uncertainty of how long public gatherings will be limited, as an alternative to the public meeting, a brief video presentation on the draft permit has been posted online at https://deq.nc.gov/ActiveEnergyAirPermit to provide additional information.
DAQ staff continues to be available to answer questions by phone or email about the draft permit and all comments will be considered before the division takes a final action on this permit.
