The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality’s (DAQ) upcoming public hearing for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) cogeneration facility will now be held at the Chapel Hill Town Hall.In addition to changing the location of the public hearing, the start time has also been moved up to 6 p.m. Also, the comment period has been extended to Jan. 23.

In addition to accepting public input at a public hearing on Dec. 17, DWR has extended the comment period for written and emailed comments. DWR will now accept written and emailed comments through 5 p.m Jan. 10.

Most of North Carolina continues to experience moderate drought, according to the latest advisory from the North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality is accepting comments on a proposed rule change that would effectively adopt the federal drinking water standards for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
