RALEIGH – The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is reviewing an updated volume estimate submitted today by Colonial Pipeline Company under the terms of the 2022 Consent Order. According to the document submitted today, Colonial estimates a volume of two million gallons of fuel released in the Oehler Nature Preserve near Huntersville, making it the largest onshore fuel spill in the nation.

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) will host an in-person public hearing on Thursday, Aug. 25, on the draft Title V air permit for World Cat Greenville.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Coastal Management (DCM) is awarding grants to 22 communities for Phase 3 of the Resilient Coastal Communities Program (RCCP). More than $1.14 million dollars will be made available for the completion of Phase 3.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) is seeking public comment on a draft air quality permit for the Carolina Poultry Power RG3, LLC facility in La Grange. Public comment will be accepted until Aug. 17, 2022.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure will be awarding $789.4 million in grant and loan funding to help pay for 385 drinking water and wastewater projects statewide, including 140 construction projects. The awards approved by the State Water Infrastructure Authority this week include funding from the state’s allocation of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) as well as additional funds awarded in the state budget signed on Monday.
