RELEASE: State seeks public feedback on H.F. Lee Plant draft consent order

RALEIGH─ The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality has opened a second comment period and rescheduled a public hearing to gather comments on a proposed draft special order by consent for Duke Energy’s H.F. Lee Plant in Goldsboro. The original dates were cancelled due to hurricane impacts last month. The new public comment period will be open Oct. 31 through Dec. 7.

FERC announces public comment period, meetings for Mountain Valley Pipeline project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or FERC, has announced its intent to develop an environmental impact statement and the opening of a public comment period for the Mountain Valley Pipeline Southgate project. These actions are part of the federally mandated scoping process which will help the agency determine whether the project is in the public convenience and a necessity, and what the environmental impacts would be along the pipeline route.    

State issues emergency declaration for Woodlake Dam

Officials with the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality and state Attorney General’s Office announced Friday that the state has issued an emergency declaration and will move forward with plans to breach Woodlake Dam in Moore County to ensure the safety of downstream communities.
