The Highlands Falls Community Association has applied for renewal of NPDES permit NC0059552 for the Highlands Falls Country Club septic tank/sandfilter system WWTP in Macon County. This permitted facility discharges treated domestic wastewater to an unnamed tributary to the Cullasaja River (Ravenel Lake) in the Little Tennessee River Basin. Currently, BOD, TSS, total residual chlorine, and ammonia nitrogen are water quality limited. This discharge may affect future allocations in this portion of the watershed.
