MEDIA ADVISORY: State seeks public input on Duke Energy water quality permits

WHAT: Public hearing on permits for the Mayo Steam Electric Generating Plant and Roxboro Steam Electric Generating Station

WHEN: 6 p.m. Oct. 4 (speaker registration starts at 5 p.m.)

WHERE: Person County Government Building, 304 S. Morgan St., Roxboro, N.C.

Officials with the state environmental agency are asking the public to provide input on proposed draft stormwater and wastewater permits for two Duke Energy Progress facilities in Person County. As part of the public comment period, the agency will hold an Oct. 4 public hearing to gather feedback on the draft permits.

Written public comments on the draft stormwater permits should be mailed to: Stormwater Permitting, Attn: Mike Randall, 1612 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C., 27699-1612. Public comments on the draft stormwater permits may also be submitted by email to: mike.randall@ncdenr.gov.

Written public comments on the draft wastewater permits should be mailed to: Wastewater Permitting, Attn: Mayo Permit or Roxboro Permit, 1617 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C., 27699-1617. Public comments on the draft wastewater permits may also be submitted by email to: publiccomments@ncdenr.gov. Please be sure to include “Mayo” or “Roxboro” in the email’s subject line.

The public comment period for the draft permits ends Nov. 4. All comments received by the comment period closing date will be considered in the final determination regarding permit issuance and permit provisions.
