State officials seek nominations for drinking water awards program

RALEIGH – The North Carolina Source Water Collaborative recently announced it was seeking nominations for projects that help protect public drinking water supplies.

Any individual, group, organization, or agency who engages in coordinated activities to protect drinking water at its source may be eligible for an award. The six award categories are surface water planning, groundwater planning, surface water implementation, groundwater implementation, education and leadership.

“Nominations are being sought for candidates that demonstrate innovative and collaborative solutions to protect North Carolina’s drinking water and the watersheds that support it,” said Dr. Rebecca Sadosky, who helps lead the N.C. Source Water Collaborative. “We are extremely pleased with the success of this awards program and hope that people will continue to initiate source water protection activities.”

The N.C. Source Water Collaborative is a statewide partnership to protect drinking water. Founded in December 2011, the N.C. Source Water Collaborative includes participants from non-profit organizations, university programs, state, local and federal agencies, professional associations, and regional councils of government.
