Greensboro / Winston-Salem / High Point (Triad) Area (Ozone)
Supplement to the Maintenance Plan for 1997 8-hour Ozone - April 2013
The final "Supplement to the Maintenance Plan for the 1997 8-hour Ozone Standard for the Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point, NC (Triad) Maintenance Area" was submitted to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) on April 12, 2013. In this supplement, the USEPA is requested to relax the current 7.8 pounds per square inch (psi) Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) requirement for four Triad counties: Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, and Guilford. Each county is subject to the summertime gasoline volatility standard contained in 40 CFR 80.27(a)(2). Approval of this request will enable 9.0 psi gasoline to be distributed in the entire Triad area throughout the year. The technical demonstration shows that relaxation of the RVP standard in the Triad maintenance area does not interfere with the attainment of National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).
