Conservation Properties
DEQ Stewardship Program conservation property information is available for use by landowners, planners, consultants and research institutions through the Google Earth (kml) file below or the Laserfiche document repository. All boundaries depicted in the geodatabase have been generated from the metes and bounds descriptions associated with the recorded deeds. Documents are organized by Site Name and ID number. If you are unsure of how to locate documents, need technical support, or have comments related to this information please call (980) 447-0905.

Click here to download Google Earth File to view State of NC held conservation properties - By clicking on a property shape, users can view property specifics and Adobe PDF copies of the recorded acquisition documents. In cases where a PDF of the recorded document is not available we provide references to the recorded deed book and page.
Easement Assignments and Transfers
Parties interested in donating, transferring, or assigning a conservation property to the state should contact us at 919-707-8536 or stewardship@deq.nc.gov. If the conservation property was acquired for the purposes of compensatory mitigation we will schedule a meeting to discuss in detail. The department reserves the right to reject a proposed easement assignment or transfer of a conservation property.
