The Anadromous Fish Spawning Areas (AFSA) are areas where evidence of spawning of anadromous fish has been documented in Division sampling records through direct observation of spawning, capture of running ripe females, or capture of eggs or early larvae. AFSA are in jurisdictional waters for both the Marine Fisheries Commission (MFC) and Wildlife Resource Commission (WRC). AFSA rule is cross-referenced by MFC rule in 15A NCAC 03N .0106 – ANADROMOUS FISH SPAWNING AREA BOUNDARIES, and by WRC rule in 15A NCAC 10C .0602 - ANADROMOUS FISH SPAWNING AREAS DEFINED. The AFSA maps contain both MFC and WRC rules in one map package.
